Q: Using what we have discussed and covered in class and how you did on your recent Asia Pretest, why is it important (or not important...) to study Asian History (or any history for that matter) and what must be considered when studying different history or cultures?
A: “History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again” Maya Angelou. When studying History we are learning about the past, both the successes, and the failures. It is very important that we study history so that we can learn from the past, to benefit the present and the future. An example of this is the rise and fall of world superpowers. The Romans fell because they spread their people too far too quickly, and had too many enemies. This happened again with England. It had too many colonies spread too far apart, and also was engaging in too many wars. In conclusion it is imperative that we study the past, or we will continue to make the same mistakes many times.
